Missiles for Moscow may give White House cause to lift curbs on Ukraine
(Originally published Sept. 9 in “What in the World“) Russia is now receiving short-range missiles from Iran.
Tehran sent a “couple hundred” of the missiles in defiance of sanctions and specific warnings from Washington not to do so, The Wall Street Journal reported. Tehran denied the report, which the White House may use to justify lifting its restrictions against Ukraine using long-range U.S. Atacm missiles against targets inside Russia.
The news follows what Ukraine said was a massive wave of Iran-designed drones by Russia over the weekend. Kyiv said its air defenses downed 58 of 67 Shahed drones.
